One Acts take the spotlight

By a landslide, sports take all the attention at South County High School. However, the theater department is ready to snatch back this attention. Throughout the month of January the theater department goes through the process of putting together One Acts. One Acts is a show consisted of a collection of student directed plays that are only one act long.

One Acts are different from the other plays that the theater departments puts together that you may have seen, like Romeo and Juliet, because it’s consists of a diverse pool of different acts. The students are involved in every step of the process. They are responsible for creating the script, to directing the act, and acting in it, of course. There is something that will appeal to everyone in the audience.

“It’s cool because it’s the one chance that students have to direct an actual show. It gives them complete control over the act, which is something they aren’t usually used to. It’s also a great opportunity because any one in the school can audition,” said senior Evan Sparks.
